In furtherance of its vision, the foundation designed an empowerment initiative for widows for sustainable livelihood by facilitating vocational and entrepreneurial Training. In collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria [ SMEDAN ], Enterpreneurial Sensitization and Awareness Creation While the Foundation Sponsors the Vocational Training of the widows and provides the widows with start-off capital. During the Odekhoa Akhume Okaisabor Memorial Lecture held in 2009 and 2010, over 100 widows benefited from the entrepreneurial sensitization and awareness creation conducted by the representatives of SMEDAN. Out of this number, needs assessment was conducted on 60 widows while the Foundation sponsored the vocational training of ten widows of cake-making and two on tailoring. The first five women who graduated from their training on cake-making received their start-off equipment from the Foundation during the Memorial Lecture in honour of Odekhoa Akhume Okaisabor organized by the Foundation on October 22, 2010. The remaining five women have also received their start-off on cake-making as well as the two women who were trained on tailoring. Also on the 5th and 6th of May 2011, SMEDAN, In Collaboration with the Foundation, organized entrepreneurship training for 36 widows while on the 24th of june 2011, of the South-East Zonal Economic Empowerment Programme which featured Entrepreneurship sensitization / Awareness Creation and needs Assessment of widows in Ebonyi State. Over 200 widows benefitted from this exercise. The Foundation plans to run more programmes n the coming years. Plans are underway to reach out to the Six geo-political zones.
